for some reason i had hardly heard anything about the candidates, so today i went to all their websites, and i actually agreed with most of what he said. i assumed he was an idiot because his name was kinky and he wears a cowboy hat, but not true. i ended up voting for bell though because he is also pro-stem cell research, gay rights, casinos, and was endorsed by The National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League Pro-Choice Texas Political Action Committee, and i thought he might have a better chance of winning.
I really believe in voting for who I want to win rather than who is probably going to win -- especially in this case because I hate the 2-party system so much... and voting for the democrat just because he has a better chance of winning than the independant/3rd party just feels like I'm giving in an playing the 2 party game that I hate so much.
The great thing about kinky was that he was like the anti-politician. One thing he said during the debate was that "if you aren't offending somebody, you're not getting anything done" and I totally believe in that! I'm tired of canned politiciany responses and straight-ticket voting and the major parties' insistance on strict adherance to a platform.
Kinky wanted to legalize gambling too. And develop biodeisel and other alternative energy sources. I really believed in that. :P
yeah i hate the two party system too but i didnt really like one of them more than the other so that's why i picked the one i thought had a chance. it is sad that perry won just because there were so many other people voters would rather have as governor.
