How did you end up in your present career?

Presently, I'm retired but I also draw, a career I never fully realized but that I also can't stop doing either. I'll probably still doing art on the day I die but doubt I'll ever make much money from it :)

When did you become so enamored with space?

I grew up with a dad who worked for NASA nearly from its inception. I remember mornings rising very early to watch launches from Cape Canaveral, in Florida, in the dark of our living room, in California. My dad loved NASA, loved being involved with three different major and long-term missions with them, and he passed that love on to me. I have no religion so I guess you could say that space is mine :)

I'll give you the same ones you asked -- why LiveJournal, and/or where does your username come from?

I found a TV show called Queer as Folk in 2003 and, went searching for information about it beyond the Showtime show-boards. I kept finding stories I wanted to read but couldn't because they were on this thing called LiveJournal that you had to join. Eventually, in frustration, I did initially only to read but ultimately to post my own stories and little bits about our lives. Still here after all these years!

My username is just a riff on my own, Gayle, given a little Celtic flair. I went with that spelling because every other one I tried was already taken!
