Updating the mission #9_March 2018

Update-wise, I've got nothing for March. I completed a single task, one about finding a mantra which I have. Memorizing it which I have. And using it which I have been sort of, kind of. Still and all, I'm counting #35 as done.

So mainly this is a photo post, a sad one for me, about the dying of a tree, my beautiful courtyard flowering plum. It's ( Read more... )

I am sorry for your plum tree, it was a beauty. Will you replace it with another flowering tree? You have a beautiful garden. Is that a lilac in bloom in your 4th pic?

Thank you! It was so lovely but much too big for its spot. I will replace it but with something, also flowering, that is smaller. I find I'm liking the view I've regained of the hills :) And no. While I don't know what it is, I know that it's not a lilac :)

Losing a tree is always hard, especially when it's one that's an especial favorite. And such a gorgeous tree! Any idea what you plan to put in its place?

It is hard. It was one of the first things I planted here. I think I'll replace it with something like the flowering hawthorn that is to its right. You can see it well in the first photo but no in bloom and just barely in the fourth but in bloom. A little bush-made-into-a tree kind of thing because they do grow smaller and take to pruning much better.

I'm sorry about the tree! It might sounds silly, but in your place I think I'd feel like I lost an old friend.

You are exactly right. It is like losing an old friend, one I watched grow from smaller than me to so tall. Happily, I got many many beautiful photos of it over the years :)

So sorry for your loss of your plum tree. It's like losing a person when that happens. It's so odd. I remember some trees in our neighborhood and by a creek I used to go by on the way to work. They were removed and cut down for a concrete plant and I grieved every time I went by there. There was no reason for them to be killed like that.

Thank you :) It is like losing someone especially when you've planted it, watered it, helped it grow. Trees beautify our world. It is so sad when they are removed, like yours were, for no reason :(
