So, as promised, I'm going to try out the Felix Weekly posts again, see what the response/interest is. Let's start out with a little game to get some meta going

Felix considered resigning his commission and mustering out at some point after re-joining the military after New Caprica.

That is a really interesting notion! I mean, on the one hand, he'd have nowhere clear to go, but on the other, he'd have a lot of skills that I think any ship in the Fleet would be grateful to have. Plus, he'd have the ex-military connection, that whether or not it actually would help Felix (since he mustered out), would be an attractive point in his favor. I'm sure any ship in the Fleet would have liked to have someone on their bridge who they thought could get Adama or Tigh's ear.

Hmm... I could definitely see him WANTING to, but seriously considering it? I think for someone who was already married to his job, after New Caprica work became a large part of what was holding him together. In "Torn", after he gets his position back in that scene with Adama and Roslin, he's so desperate to be useful. All of his dialogue is expository - explaining the star charts and so forth - but everything about AJ's body language is screaming, "Please trust me! Please forgive me! Thank you for letting me back in! I won't let you down!" The straight-backed, calm professionalism is gone, and he's running around nervous and a bit too excited, trying to impress them and show them his value, which is through the work he can produce. He can help them find Earth, he can replace Baltar, he can make up for his mistakes. I think he was far too desperate for redemption for New Caprica to consider going anywhere else.

Since Felix was reflecting on his childhood dream of being an architect just before his death, I think it's possible that he might have gone back to that if given the chance. I think Felix embracing "the dream of New Caprica" tied into his earliest ambitions - which were to design and build something, in this case a new home for humanity. I imagine that on New Caprica Felix played a large part in building up the infrastructure and he could've taken that role again if he'd made it to Earth.

Absolutely possible on one condition: it's not against regs.

Felix seems like someone who probably does prefer relationships, although since the only thing we see of his love life is Hoshi (and I think we all assume that he had a deep, almost obsessive infatuation/love for Gaius), I'm not sure where I really draw that conclusion. So I guess because we don't really see him make a big deal of his love life, I just assume that the possibility of him hooking up with people is a very easy one. I could absolutely see Felix having someone that's more on the friends with benefits sort of things- something where he gets some sex that's drama free, but it isn't a relationship, either.

However, if it ever came to the point where it was against regs, then no.

You know, reading this just gave me this fleeting, tragic little plot bunny for a ficlet where Felix and the Marine with Pretty Eyes actually had had an on-and-off thing between them after Felix got back from New Caprica, which makes some sense if the Marines stayed on Galactica during the Occupation. Someone like MWPE would have had little baggage about NC towards Felix and so Felix would have an easier time hooking up with someone like that.

It would give that little scene where he tries to get past MWPE into Gaius' cell a whole new pathos, if they had had even a loose relationship that Felix was trying to capitalize on.

I know, I'm terrible. :(

We must have a Gaeta/Jeanne fic somewhere though! The Little Black Dress challenge must have produced one, unless there already had been one at that time.

Are you suggesting Jeanne or Felix would be using the other as a Baltar sub though? :D

I'm voting NEVER EVER on this one. 1) because Felix seems majorly turned off by religion and religious types, and 2) because Jeanne would perceive Felix as the Judas to Baltar's Messiah.

Inpsired by Trovia's - Felix tried to go through the proper channels and talk to Adama about Tigh's drinking in the CIC.

Depends on whether you think Felix was ever as naive as to think that that would actually go anywhere! :D Which he might have been. But it's so obvious that Adama was already in the know, and that he was protecting Tigh, or that even Tigh was stationed under Adama on Galactica specifically so that he could serve his last couple of years before retirement without getting into trouble. Plus, as far as Felix was concerned before the pilot, the Galactica was an old almost-museum ship that wasn't even allowed to make a jump once during Felix' time, and Tigh was scheduled to retire and not endanger anybody anymore soon enough.

Those are good points, especially about the relative futility of it considering that Galactica was about to be decomissioned.

You know, I kind of have to agree with trovia on this one. Because, the times for him to do this would have either been a) right at the beginning, when it was still new and shocking to him or b) when it had built up for a while and Felix had gotten to see what a problem Saul's drinking was. But by then, he would have had Dee and others in the CIC to tell him how that was going to go nowhere. I think it was probably true that he had concluded that Galactica was one step away from being a museum ship, not doing anything major that would affect the safety of anyone, and figured why jeopardize a good recommendation from Adama for his next appointment?

Oh wow...Gaeta Girl LJ reunion!

Please allow me a little off-topic moment to just say HEY THERE & GROUP HUGS to you all. It's funny because I've just - like, two days ago - had a long session finally uploading my old BSG fics to Ao3. It got me re-reading a few Felix fics (my own and my old faves by you guys). So for me, it's the perfect time for this discussion post to come along!

So anyway, a prompt! Felix slept with other cylon models (male and female) on New Caprica to gain information to leak to the resistance.

I could see Felix sleeping with a number of the other models (no Sixes because of Baltar, but maybe some of the men?), but what I have trouble with is the idea of him sleeping with more than one at the same time. Too dangerous? Too icky? I think with Sweet Eight he felt that they genuinely had a connection, even if it wasn't love, and that this allowed him trust her and justify his actions to himself. I'm not sure if he'd be able to sustain that belief if he consciously realized that he was whoring himself to different models. I don't know, though. It depends on how desperate he was.

I guess it depends on whether we interpret the Felix/Eight ship as a genuine alliance or as Felix desperately "whoring himself out". I think it was a bit of both. Felix seemed to have had a friendship with Boomer and was one of the few people who treated Athena with any decency when she first joined the Galactica. So maybe Felix felt the Eights were the most potentially trustworthy and compassionate of the cylon models? Felix didn't have experience much of the other models before New Caprica. That said, if Cavil and Leoben are anything to go by, then I'd say sexual power-plays were a big part of the cylon's domination of the humans on New Caprica.

I did write a fic where Felix was having sex with multiple Eights. But it wasn't for information. ;-)
