Damn. Poor John. Also- I can't believe you made me like Sheppard/Kolya. This certainly turned several plot-twists on their ear. The decisions, bad ones made for good reasons, (which we've seen in canon) their effect- Rodney dead from Doranda, Ford hunted down, the city never invaded (and Kolya's son alive by extension) was quite chilling.

Although you apologize for the out-there John characterization, I wasn't sure that it was that much of a deviance from what could have happened, how canon could have gone (especially on say HBO series). I've read cutting stories, and hated most of them, especially Sheppard ones- but this one didn't make me go "What the...? Who's going by the name John Sheppard in this story? 'Cause it ain't the guy I know." I've definitely read OOC Sheppard before, but this story wasn't one of them. (IMHO).

I really liked this- it had all the sense of tragedy and pathos that I've come to love from your stories.

Wow! I loved this story. I've always been fascinated by the dynamics of the relationship between Kolya and John and I loved how your portrayed what could have been in a different kind of universe. I loved this John and his selective blindness and how in the end he couldn't withstand the need to do the right thing, even if it cost him the one family he wanted.

It's a very John thing to do, as proven when he flew after his friend and got a dark mark. It's not something that Kolya would understand and I ache for the consequences that that betrayal will have for John in this world. I believe that if Kolya was obsessive in his persecution of John in the normal Atlantis, this Kolya will be even worse with all that love now turned hate fueling him.

Brilliant. Like I said about the last one, I love this kind of AU fic. You have a real talent for it, changing just enough that the whole universe is a foreign place, but at the same time, so much is recognizable. Now I'm really looking forward to the next one!
