Okay, I liked Interview With A Vampire. Maybe it's because I had seen the movie before I read it and I knew what was coming. The Vampire Lestat, left me 'eh. There was another of her books I could barely read, can't think which one right now ( Read more... )

Try reading The Handmaid's Tale, The Robber Bride, or Cat's Eye, by Margaret Atwood.

Ugh. I didn't like The Witching Hour either. It was too slow for me. I had the same thought too, old family of witches, set in NOLA, what's not to like? Heh, little did I know. I don't even think I finished it.

Interview is the only book of her that I think I ever read all the way through and enjoyed. Oh, and her Sleeping Beauty series isn't bad either. I read a few of those in college.

Oh.
My.
God.

The Witching Hour is just HORRIBLE. Horrible, horrible, horrible. I remember being SO excited to read it as I had really enjoyed the Vampire Chronicles. I tried to like it but nope, couldn't do it.

Anne Rice and Stephen King self-edit the majority of the drivel they churn out now and quite frankly, that's a BIG mistake on the part of their publishers (IMO, anyway).
