Another Lieberman Comment

The point of getting rid of Lieberman was not revenge; it was to remove someone unqualified from a post where he can and will do everything in his power to obstruct Obama's agenda. I don't understand the people who think Obama has some kind of leverage over Lieberman now. He's shown repeatedly that he can't be trusted, and it's next to impossible ( Read more... )

So, the Dem Steering Committee also decided to replace John Dingell with Henry Waxman as the head of the Energy and Commerce Committee.

Considering Dingell is an obstructionist auto industry shill that has been preventing real progress on CAFE standards and other energy/environmental issues, this is tremendously good news. Does it outweigh keeping Lieberman? I'm sure you'll say no. But it is some needed change, and it is a point in their favor.

The House and the Senate are different creatures. We may see some bright spots in the House, if this is an indication. Whether they'll get through the Senate is another matter.
