Summary: Atobe gives Shishido a warning and let's him know what's going on.
Pacing along the chain link fence surrounding the courts Atobe kept a careful eye on Yukimura's practice while sorting through the various pieces of information he had learned so far. He knew he could have discussed this first with Yuushi but things were still somewhat awkward after their agreement over Kabaji so he had selected a different member of his team to approach. Hopefully Yukimura wouldn't let practice run too late - everything considered he was less than keen on being outside after dark.
Shishido couldn't escape the psycho guy. He had tennis with him everyday now and then after he got home, boom, there he was with his five bazillion plants. His room looked like a damn jungle! Shishido had never thought he'd miss sharing a room with his jackass brother. When he finished up with practice, he trudged off the court, taking his time so he wouldn't have to go home just to see more Yukimura. A familiar face caught his eye though and he stared for a moment, "Atobe? Hey, what are you doing here? Spying on the competition or something?"
"Shishido." Atobe greeted, glad when he finally saw his team mate. "I was starting to think you wanted to stay behind for extra credit." He drawled, lips curving into a light smirk.
Shishido snorted and rolled his eyes, "Trust me, if spending more time with Yukimura gets me extra credit, I should be able to graduate in another week or so." He shuddered a little, "So...what about you? What's up? I doubt you came all the way here to spend time with little ol' me," he smirked, "Or did ya miss me that much?"
"Come with me." Atobe ignores the other teen's sarcasm with the ease of long practice. "We need to talk."
The other boy stretched his arms over his head, "Alright, let's go......but remember we have to hide this torrid affair from Choutarou or he'll cry," Maybe the heat was going to his head, but he was just in a much better mood than he'd ever been. Or maybe it was all the sex he was having lately......
Rolling his eyes Atobe began to walk away from the courts on a path that would lead them once around the entire campus. "I promise I will return you to Ootori in pristine condition."
At least this would be a good cooldown, "So what's going on?" Shishido asked, stretching a bit as they walked.
Waiting until they had left the courts far enough behind that they were out of listening range Atobe glanced over at Shishido. "I need you to be on alter - for your own safety and Ootori's." He stated bluntly.
Now that got Shishido's attention, "What? What the hell is going on, Atobe?" Choutarou's safety was not something he joked around about.
"You mean aside from the fact that we have been kidnapped to an unknown island just to go to school here?" Atobe snorted daintily. "I know you have been...distracted lately, but surely you can't have assumed this was just some vacation Shishido."
"Of course not, but as long as I'm here with you guys and I know you're ok, I don't give a fuck why we're here really....The people I care about are ok, and that's what matters," He frowned and watched Atobe, meaning it.
"A girl died Shishido." Atobe pointed out calmly. "I wouldn't exactly call us being trapped here ok."
"I know she died, Atobe....but...that had something to do with a snake, right? I mean...it's not like they're killing kids," He argued. Shishido was never one to pry into things. He usually didn't really care that much.
"Something ate her organs." Atobe was proud that his voice didn't waver as he told Shishido the most gruesome detail, his stomach roiling as the picture of the girl's body in its pretty dress flashed before his eyes. "And as far as I am aware snakes don't have claws or fangs." They had been lied to and though he didn't know the reason behind it it was enough to put Atobe on edge.
Shishido tripped over his own feet and nearly fell on his face, "WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT???" He asked after he caught himself and stabilized himself, in a quieter voice he added, "Something ate her organs???? Are you sure it wasn't just like scavengers or something--I mean--when something dies it doesn't take scavengers long to get to the body---"
"While she was alive." Atobe cut off Shishido sharply. "At least from what I could tell. There were barely any other injuries that could have been fatal." He stopped and rested a hand on Shishido's arm. "There was a reason why it was a closed coffin burial." It hasn't been a pretty sight. "But before that she received a hit to the head."
Shishido paled and covered his mouth with a hand, looking like he was going to be sick, "Y-you're shitting me.......they----......fuck...."
"I wish I was." It certainly hasn't been what he has been expecting to see when prying open the heavy coffin lid. "I don't know much but I do know that she was attacked - maybe because she was trying to escape or too close to discovering something or maybe because she was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time." He exhaled deeply. "I didn't want to upset Ootori more than he already is - but you are his sempai and his lover. Promise me you will be careful and not take any unnecessary risks."
"Fuck....." Shishido took a couple deep breaths and stared up at the sky. He ran a hand through his hair, "Fuckin' hell....yeah...no...thanks for tellin' me Atobe.....I'll protect Choutarou. No matter what." He looked at his long time friend, "You....doin' ok?" Atobe sounded like he'd seen the damage personally and that worried him as much as the knowledge itself.
"Of course." Atobe waved his hand, not keen on relieving the moments after his discovery. "Ore-sama simply didn't wish to have to explain why half the team managed to get eaten." He explained breezily.
Shishido sighed softly, "Yeah....ugh...alright...just..even if you need to talk about anything....I'll listen anytime....alright?" He looked at his former captain, completely sincere.
Meeting Shishido's gaze Atobe allowed a slight quirk of his lips even as he nodded curtly. "I know - but for now just look out for each other."
"Yeah, don't worry, I won't let anything happen to anyone if I can help it....and nothing will happen to choutarou...they have to go through me to get to him."
"As romantic as I am sure that is I would prefer it if you both made it out of this safe and sound." Atobe shook his head and began to walk again, his steps faster now as the darkness fell oppressively around them. "And tell the others to be careful as well when you find a chance to do so without being overheard."
Shishido nodded and followed along with Atobe, "Thanks....I'll let'em know when I can..."
"Good." Stopping in front of the dorms Atobe clasped Shishido's shoulder briefly. "I know I can count on you."
Putting his hand over Atobe's he gave it a little squeeze, "You be careful too, alright?"
“You know me." Atobe smirked. "I'm too awesome for anything to happen to me."
Shishido laughed, "Uh huh, whatever you say."
Swatting lightly at the back of the still smaller teen's Atobe smirked. "Watch it - you might be on loan to Yukimura but your soul still belongs to me."
Shishido arched an eyebrow but then laughed, "My soul huh? I don't remember signing any contracts...but if it does come down to between you and Yukimura?" He shuddered, "I'd take you any day."
