and started talking with people about it. It's now rapidly snowballing and turning into the first foundations of a 3 day Festival here in the North Coast, dedicated to finding a healthy and meaningful culture of grief, mourning and embracing death in our local area, rather than the western 'don't think about it and it won't happen to you' method of

I'd like to thank you for doing something to combat our culture's pathological 'I'm so afraid of the very concept of death that I'm going to do all I can to put my fingers in my ears and ignore it' attitude.
Much love always. :)

well, naturally- we only ever know that something is truly happening when we find ourselves in the 'oh, here I am doing it, so *that's* how it turned out' sort of thing.
:D
Still, I had to plant the seed there, you know... :D

I think this is something that is lost in the party culture that flocks to all of these seasonal festivals. That people shouldn't be afraid to open up even if their thoughts are not all love and positivity and light. People grieve and that is natural and necessary. People don't always want to grieve alone but are afraid of offending or seeming weak. This was you have a festival for all of the aspect of real life.
Depending on your success, I would like to start a Canadian spin-off. Keep us apprised!

In the meantime, the search for the festival name has begun. Also, getting a list together of the relevant contact people from the Burning Man festival, Rainbow Gathering, Confest and others who I think will be really supportive of the idea and experienced in creating this kind of thing. I'm thinking that at this stage it will be a year long planning, but with the kind of momentum that seems to be behind it, this may be greatly shortened. It will be fun to find out!
I would LOVE for spin-off events- it's what I'm hoping for here in Oz, that's for sure. I love the idea of such things permeating the permafrost of western thinking when it comes to embracing the All...

Someone here on the community is building an earthbag house, some info about which can be found on this site here http://www.greenhomebuilding.com/earthbag.htm
This is actually a really cool site, I think you'll like it. I want to buy a property and build a natural house on it. I need a healing space to live, and grow gardens, be a centre hub for The Intelligence Project, and a few other things. I want to live in something really, really yummy, inspiring and Feylike. :D
