To all my very clever friends.

I am looking for a word, or couple of words, that describes the experience when you see someone that reminds you of someone you love that is dead. That feeling of the sudden rush of remembering, astonishment, irrational hope, the wave of relief, the impulse to run after them and take them in your arms, even while a tiny voice in your brain is ( Read more... )

The only word I can think of that's in the right ball park is "poignant", but it's too general, and an adjective rather than a word. One of these days I probably ought to read Proust and see if he (or his translator) has ever done any better..

I think it needs to be more connected to the earthier aspects of our incarnation experience, like Tantra is connected to it.

So much is lost in the attempt to ward off anything the West can't handle. I'm big on reclaiming it. :D

Who knew? *laughing*

See, these are the kinds of names that people who are creating the new age kind of festivals are drawn to. I understand their thinking, but this isn't where I'm going with the festival; I don't want a bunch of 'let's be happy and waffle on about things that don't actually get to the bones of the matter' to be happening; I'm looking for something earthier, darker, more grounded than that.

Have you ever read Women Who Run with the Wolves? Carla Pinkola Estes, the author, is an expert on world mythologies, and she deftly paints the picture of the Hag, the Crone, the Bones and the deep mysticism of the deep and dark places in the Earth that describe the shadow side of being incarnate, the things that in the West are preferred to be unspoken, ignored, hidden.

I'm looking to find the Wildish name for this festival. You know what I look like in that space... :)

Unfortunately. if I called it the Gestalt festival I think the main attendees would be a bunch of people dedicated to a particular kind of psychology. :P

The possum is searching through the Japanese language, and I'm hoping that we'll find someone familiar with Latina languages who can point us toward something. My other idea was that, if such a word or phrase currently doesn't exist, then it needs to be created, much like 'google' has come to have meaning, or 'cyberspace'. Our culture is evolving so it makes sense that there are aspects of experience and awareness that currently lacks descriptive language.

Perhaps the idea now is to discover what those words or the phrase is. :)

Oh, and *hugs*. It's gorgeous, as always, to see you. :)
