Somebody hooked up a property database to google maps at Zillow. Now house-hunting can be even more fun, because you can walk around looking at houses while carrying a laptop with wireless and find out how much someone's house is worth while borrowing their internet connection! indeed it is fun. Although it should be noted that the database isn't always accurate (there were several errors when looking at my parents' house, for instance)

Our house seems to be overvalued a good bit. I expected it to be more than our tax assessment, but it's nuts that ours is valued higher than the next door house on the corner, which is a little bigger and in much better shape than ours, with very nearly as big a lot (and more conveniently shaped). There are some mistakes (they claim we have stucco outsides, when the house has always had cedar shingles). I'd heard from other people that some of the values are way off, and sort of small changes (a finished room in your otherwise unfinshed attic?) can make a big difference. If it's right, nobody on our street has air conditioning. That seems unlikely, considering the number of people who have done massive amounts of rennovations in the past few years.
