So yeah,
Honestly, I'm pleasantly surprised with it. Admittedly with the announcement of three XIIIs my attention was focused almost solely on Versus XIII. I paid little to no attention to this one, not feeling as excited for it as Versus...
I must say, this is the most into a Final Fantasy I've gotten in a long while. It feels good. ^-^ Again, I was afraid it was going to be too much like X, which while not a bad game, it's not exactly my favourite. Then I was worried it'd be too much like XII which I actually never finished...
I'm happy to say that, while it has obvious elements from both games, and more, it's uniquely it's own. The battle system is quite possibly the most hectic I've come across in a regular RPG. At the same time, very smooth controls. Switching Paradigms on the fly couldn't be easier or more intuitive. Granted, it takes a little getting used to and learning where things are. There were a few times I met my untimely end because I picked a Synergist and Commando Paradigm rather than a Medic and Ravager one...
It's only been... hm... 10-ish hours now? Maybe. I'm already quite attached to most of the characters. Surprisingly only annoyed by one, for the most part.
The story is as intriguing as usual. The LOST-esque flashback sequences are quite the change... not sure if they're good or bad just yet. Segmented timeline stories like this usually don't sit well with me, I prefer more linear journeys, but so far it's working.
Can't wait to jump back into the game.
Soooo, I had my follow up exams today. That was a bit of an ordeal. It's been so long since I've been to the Cancer Institute, I forgot how sick just being in that building makes me feel. Then there was the fact that I had to get blood drawn and then had to get a little I.V. in my arm for the dye they use for CT scans... A total of 4 needle pokes... one of which was gotten on the first try. The other three were dragged around in my skin for a few moments, trying to find a vein before they gave up. By the time I walked out of there I looked like some sort of junkie.
Added to that, I had to take out my earrings from my newly stretched piercings... By the time they went back in, yeah... there was some bleeding. Not too much, and oddly not from the ear I thought would give me the most trouble.
Anyway, tests are over and now I get to wait a week for the results. I thought these last three months of waiting were excruciating... *flail*
Hmmm.... I'm pretty sure there was something else I had planned to ramble on about here... but now I forget.
Bah, whatever, I'm going to hop back on FFXIII. :B
