A Letter to Amazon

Jul 21, 2007 18:39

I find it extremely irresponsible of Amazon to promise delivery of a product on a particular day via a particular shipping service (in this case UPS), only to breach that trust by shipping it USPS without notifying the recipient. After losing a day of work (a net amount equal to $***.**) to specifically wait around for my delivery of the final ( Read more... )

They burned me too, though in a slightly different way. It turns out the Audio versions are not delivered until next week. To make matters worse when I found this out and when to cancel, the order was already magically being processed and could NOT be cancelled even though it won't ship until monday.

Dear Amazon Prime Customer,
I'm sorry Amazon sucks.
I'm more sorry UPS couldn't handle the volume.
Trust me, it was quite the shock on OUR end, as well (and I wish I meant that as figuratively as it can be taken).

Actually, it was your post about having to handle UPS's volume that send me running down to my mailbox. Ultimately I suppose it was Brown's fault, but they're not likely to give me a credit to Amazon, now, are they?

Ha!
No.
You're pointing the finger at the only people who remotely (and boy howdy, it's remote!) care and/or can do something.
The rest of us are merely pawns in their sick little game.
And sorry. Didn't mean to turn you on, etc.

This is why I never buy important or time-sensitive things online. Really, there's no reason to unless you don't have any decent stores near you.

Plus (and here's the former retail worker in me coming out) your local-purchase tax dollars keep your city functioning, which is probably good, right?

Actually, the time sensitivity didn't really matter to me all that much. I had the afternoon off for other reasons, but I was still eager to be here for the delivery -- even if I probably won't begin reading it for another week.

I didn't even think about this, but seeing several posts on my friends list about it...

my postal carrier just left it on the front porch, like he does all small packages. so I didn't think about apartment complexes, etc... eek!
