One of the five year olds I worked with at the YMCA camp a few years ago couldn't believe I existed anywhere else but the camp. As childeren, we're the same way with teachers. As we grow up, it becomes logical that they go home and have lives, but even as adolescents, when we have so much going on in our own lives, we forget that our teachers ( Read more... )

it's a lucky feeling to know that you've had more than one.
growing up the daughter of a teacher puts a different perspective on all of that, too, i think. i knew mom's colleagues had first names. she knew several of my teachers personally. one of my 4th grade teachers went to church with us. and lived across the street.
