General Election Today Folks...

May 06, 2010 14:56

I hope you have all been good little boys and girls and gone out to vote or will do so later today.

Voting is important, and given that people died to give us the right and there are still some countries that don't allow it. Please, don't be frightened to vote, it really is important.

It seems so odd to me to see a post encouraging people to vote. I mean, over here we get into a fair bit of trouble if we don't vote. Or at least, we get a fine. I can understand why people wouldn't want to, though...

Yeah, I've heard of a few countries where it is complusory, but it's not in the UK, and some people just don't bother and then they complain about the government - tsk, tsk.

Yeah, I don't mind people not wanting to. I mean, people do it in Australia; they just mark it wrongly so it doesn't count, 'cause all you really have to do is show up to have your name ticked off, but it annoys me when those same people think they have the right to complain about the government. Ah, well. *Shrugs*.
