Can Yourself Fans, then Bow Out Gracefully.

I don't normally write about this sort of thing. I don't really follow sport, but every two years I get spurred to watch international football as England play in either the Euro's or the World Cup (which I'm sure no one has missed is going on at the moment ( Read more... )

Go and look up Football hooliganism. It's a shocking but true read. The 80's and 90's were shocking. Although, in Euro 2000, the Belgium and Dutch pulled no punches. I think when England went out at qualifying rounds there were riots and they wheeled out the huge water cannons - there was nothing funnier than watching a lone man being pelted to the floor by a high pressure cannon.

But, yeah, Football violence isn't as bad as it used to be, but it can still be very hairy, and it's a true story about Rob's ex school mate. It's still remembered down where I now live (I moved to where Rob lives)

Huh... I never imegined how bad it is in England with football and hooligans. Well.. I know that there is a film called "Hooligan" and it's 18+ but... well...

I also know that here in germany are some matches in which the players and fans can get pretty violent. But in the last couple of years nothing serious happened. That only happened at local derbys.

And the whole England and German rivalry? You don't notice anything of that here in germany. But with the Dutch... that's a different story. But I get the feeling that's more of a teasing thing... we're making fun of the team and that's it. We're not getting violent with dutch fans. How could we? Most of the germans are going on vacation in the Netherlands. LOL

It's too hot here...

Interesting about the violence. I wish I could say that it doesn't happen here in the US, but we do have riots break out after certain teams win. Just to clarify, its the winning team's fans that riot. We do things differently, LOL. Everyone else just goes home and hopes to win next year. Certain sports seem to have more violent fans. Its an old joke "I went to a fight and a hockey game broke out". If football/soccer ever really caught on, maybe its fans would be violent too.
