Well, K has run off to the salt mines to bring home the bacon (and health insurance!), so it's just li'l ol' me holding down the fort - at least in the afternoons. So far, on day 2, it's going just fine ( Read more... )

I'm somewhat surprised that you're the only dad attending the play groups, though props to you for doing it despite the gender role thing.

And I love the mental image of how E "hikes," which is pretty adorable. :-)

Wow. Your account takes me back to when The Kid was E's age, and I was the token Y-chromosome having member of the various story hours and playgroups in which we participated.

On the other hand, I'm currently the only Y-chromosme having person in my office, so not much has changed in that regard.

Enjoy this time. It's great. And while it's not like my position six years down the parenting line is all that exalted or anything, but believe me, it goes waaaay to fast.

Hell, parenting aside, I was a better writer six years ago than I am now, so I envy you that as well.

I'm also surprised that you're the only SAHD attending playgroups. I wonder if the changing economy will change that with time.

I'm also curious whether you ever envisioned, when you were in private legal practice or private equity practice, whether your life would look as it does now. :)
