There are no words...

No, who am I kidding? There are a LOT of words.

You know, I knew it was probably going to be bad, but it was so much worse than I ever could have predicted.

I am, of course, talking about the finale episode of Lost.

What is this...I just don't even.

Could they have done a more schlocky, saccharine, New Agey ending? And pasted-on, holy shit. You could have stuck that onto the end of ANY show, that's how vague and non-specific to the show it was.

I'd have been okay with the episode if it weren't for that ending. It would have been a totally "meh" finale, but at least it wouldn't have been the ending of Titanic, Evangelion and BSG rolled into one. Or like an episode of Touched By an Angel or Ghost Whisperer. I DIDN'T EVEN EXPECT ANY ANSWERS TO ANY MYSTERIES. How about just not having a patronizing, heavy-handed, hammy, overwrought, manipulative ending (that I've seen before in a million other things)?

And now people online are trying to tell me it wasn't overly Christian (or religious or spiritual.) LOL. It was the most obvious imagery ever, despite the tacked-on other religious symbols.

I can tell I'm going to be ranting about this more.

Non-spoilery commentary: Fuck all the people saying, "If you didn't like it, you must not have understood it/are missing the big picture." No, honey. I understood it and its big picture just fine. I didn't really need your long explanation of what happened; I already got it. And still thought it sucked. That doesn't make me stupid or heartless or whatever. Sorry.

(I'm also seeing a lot of "Just accept what you're given." LOL story interaction doesn't work that way.)

rant, lost
