Personality:
Don't judge a book by its cover. Anise Tatlin may look like a sweet and innocent little girl on the outside, but underneath that smile, she's a force to be reckoned with. She's fully aware of her age and cute appearance - and uses this to her advantage when she can, curses it when it serves as a hindrance for her own intentions. She can be a sunny and friendly personality who (usually) means well, but she surprises her older companions with her occasional outbursts of violence and/or ruthless insults ("I'll kill you bastaaards-!"). Anise is also quite the golddigger - always on the lookout for potential (rich) husbands. Her greediness, however, is an effect of her family's financial situation: with both of her parents easily falling into scams. Her parents - though good people - are very gullible, and usually end up buried in debts - hence the reason for her desire to marry into wealth. Because of that, she's very flirtatious for a thirteen year old, and can often be seen flirting with Luke and later, Guy. She's also one of the few who can get along with Jade (to a certain extent), or at least keep up with his obnoxious and sarcastic attitude. Beyond all that, however, Anise is a good friend. As Fon Master Guardian, she's very protective of the gentler, frailer Ion and she cares deeply for him. Later, she is shown taking good care of Ion's replica, Florian.
Strengths:
As a trained member of the Oracle Knights, Anise is pretty darn unstoppable on the battlefield. With her fonic artes and trusty automated doll Tokunaga, she can fell anything and everything from monsters to enemies. It's a strange method of combat, but when atop Tokunaga, Anise can deal quite a lot of physical damage. She's also pretty skilled with fonic artes, able to cast such artes as Limited or Negative Gate .
Anise is surprisingly able to keep up with any serious discussion the party has regarding the world they are working to save. She's been present at summits, treaties, and meetings with the rulers of Auldrant - and is even known to throw out a comment or opinion during said discussions. Additionally, she recognizes her parents' tendency to fall prey to scams. She ends up being the one to berate them for their gullibility and works hard to get them out of debt.
Emotionally, she's fairly mature for being only thirteen. Anise is made of stronger stuff than the average little girl. She pushes herself to smile and move forward - even after encountering problems and situations that would destroy any other girl her age. (In a skit, Jade remarks that she pushes herself a lot, for a little girl) This is seen after she kills Arietta, and most especially after Ion's death. She deeply regrets the latter, but with Luke's help, she is able to take it in stride and continue fighting alongside the rest of the party.
Weaknesses:
Without her fonic artes and without Tokunaga, Anise does not have very much to fight with. And with a structure like hers it would be fairly easy to knock her over.
Is greed a weakness? One of Anise's main weaknesses is her love for money. As previously stated, it's an effect of her family's financial situation, and Anise dreams of marrying a rich husband. Whenever the group finds something that looks precious, Anise always wonders aloud how much it would sell for. Anise also has a tendency to be childish and immature. She often insists that she shouldn't be treated like a child (hence her Grown-Up Child title). She has a streak of impulsiveness, too, once leading to her nearly falling off a cliff at Tataroo Valley.
Emotionally, Anise is only a little girl, and has gone through things that most little girls should never have to endure. Blackmailed by Mohs, she finds herself forced to spy on her friends - and this results in Ion's death. Ion’s death weighs heavily on her shoulders, and she blames herself, her parents' naiveté and her helplessness at the situation. It takes a good talking to from Luke for her to get up and get moving again. She's still also vulnerable: when Sync - thought to be dead - turns up at Chesedonia and uses his identical appearance to Ion, and Ion's voice on Anise, she is taken aback - showing that it hit a nerve.

1. Anise is afraid of thunder and lightning. She hides it because she thinks it's kind of a pathetic thing to be afraid of, seriously.
2. Anise always sleeps with Tokunaga at night - not that she can't sleep without him, but because she feels a little closer to home and to her parents whenever she has him near.
3. She's never had a real doll other than Tokunaga.
4. She's still not used to the "normal" calendar in , and often makes mistakes about how long she's been in Luceti. (to her, it's only been a little over half a year.) So instead of saying she's been here a a year and x-months, she refers to the passage of time by the change in seasons. If that makes sense. (like, "Oh I came late last spring, and it's the beginning of fall now, so I've been here about a year, I guess?")
5. She can sew well, but has absolutely no patience at all for cross-stitching or knitting or crochet. So mending tears or making simple clothes is okay with her, but anything beyond that (like embroidery or whatever) is pretty much beyond her.
6. When Anise makes written entries in the journal, it's almost always in pink. She predictably dots her i's with tiny hearts and writes in cursive.
7. Her favorite ice cream flavor is actually vanilla. But strawberry is not only delicious, it is cute and pink and girly, so she usually gets that. :Db
8. Ever since the Hunter tore off one of her wings last Halloween, Anise has become secretly very protective of her wings. She keeps them folded under her clothes when she can. (she used to love having them out because they're just. so adorable and tiny.)
9. She used to be wary around older girls because of the bitches who bullied her when she first started out in the Order. She's softened up a little since then (Tear and Natalia helped), but she'll still get along better with more unlikely characters (Jade and Dist, for example,are 20+ years her senior)
10. Funnily enough, she got along better with the guy soldiers. They were kind of amused at this tiny kid's smart mouth and quickly figured that you shouldn't mess with her if you knew what was good for you. Anise likely learned how to swear from them. (probably learned the curse words from washing dishes at run down places, and learned how to hurl them from boot camp. :|a)
11. She talks a lot because awkward pauses unnerve her and she doesn't like silences in general. In fact, she sings/hums to herself when she's busy doing her own thing, just so it doesn't get too quiet! (Off-key, though. /o/)
12. She's actually not too bad at math, if she'd just exert some effort! Especially if money factors in - she's good at budgeting and if taught, she could probably keep ledgers and other accounting things without breaking a sweat. |D (she'd be good at it, but she'd hate it because it's boring work. )
13. She loves receiving new outfits and dressing up because she didn't have a very wide selection of clothes in her closet, growing up.
14. One thing she really likes about Luceti is that she gets to hang out with more kids her age. It's what makes school worth going to, anyway!
15. Make-up fascinates her, but it's a pain to remove! Also, Simon once said he liked her better without it, so she hasn't tried putting any on again, since.
16. She likes horror stories! They terrify her more than they fascinate her, but she likes the thrill of being scared. She'll laugh it off after, and then not be able to sleep at night. :|b
17. Anise likes keeping things tidy. She isn't obsessive-compulsive and overly meticulous or anything, but if there's a mess, she'll want to at least try and clean it up.
18. Anise fancies herself an artist, but she's not exceptionally talented or anything. She just. Doodles over stuff. She thinks they're awesome works of art, but doesn't really tell anyone.
19. She thinks it'd be nice to have kids someday, but she doesn't think it'll ever happen. She's too deadset on reforming the Order (and attempting to become the first female Fon Master) to think about marriage or anything, now.
20. When marrying into wealth was at the top of her to-do list, the first thing she wanted to do with the money (after paying off debts and things) was to buy her parents a new home, somewhere far from Daath. Maybe Sheridan, or Chesedoina.
