Updates...

As some of you - those who still stop by once in a while - may know, my laptop died last month, right before report cards were due. Luckily, that stuff was backed up, but it's been a PITA having to share computers again - at work, at home, I've been spoiled by having my own computer.

Last weekend, I bought a Mac. I joined the cult, so to speak. It's a MacBook Pro, so it's a bit bigger than my hubby's MacBook, and it runs like the wind. I'm still getting used to some of the Mac-isms, like keyboard shortcuts, something the typist in me uses frequently.

Also, I've been marking IB exams again this year - 176 of them, to be precise. The extra cash is nice, but it's been a slower-than-usual process this year, as they changed the markscheme a couple of times - this after making us wait a week after the exam to even start marking. Some of them have been doing very well, while others were very bad - so bad I wondered if they attended classes (I don't mark my own students' exams - these are from several American schools, plus one from Central America). Those ones, the bad ones, are good for my students, though, because they all wrote the same exam, and therefore are compared to one another - not quite a bell curve, but a similar result.

I chaperoned the Prom on Friday - probably one of the best ones I've been to. The only disappointing part was the food, which was pretty bad. The DJ was actually pretty good - and played a "for the teachers" set that left me out of breath. I must be gettin' old or something.

Yesterday, I banged up my hand - of course, it had to be my dominant hand. I whacked it on a door frame as I walked by it - I can still move it, so it's likely not broken, but its very painful. Marking has been interesting ... I hope IB doesn't think I've had someone else do my marking, considering my handwriting has changed a bit as I figure out how to manipulate a pen with my index-finger-knuckle swollen and stiff.

Saw Made of Honor last night - it was cute in a predictable sort of way. I didn't see a lot of chemistry between the main characters, though, which is too bad. McDreamy in a mini-kilt, though, was fun.
