Back in Countdown Mode

School starts up again next week.

Last week, my hubby & I went to Virginia, leaving Sonja behind for the first time (for more than a weekend, that is).  She had a grand time with Oma & Opa, and we had a long, long drive (made longer by DC traffic, even though we weren't staying all that close to DC, we still had to go near enough to be affected by ( Read more... )

It sounds like you had a lovely trip. You visited some wonderful places.

From what I understand, interstates are federally funded and mandated. For highways, those are state responsibilities and either fall to the state or specific county for maintenance. I think highways tend to be smaller (no more than 4 lanes total) but I could be wrong as I don't have experience with very large cities, which Pittsburgh isn't.

We really did have a good time ... and I love that the Smithsonian (including the ZOO!) is free.

Thanks ... we're going to need a lot of luck this year, I think!
