Prometheus - the review

First thought: it's interesting, confusing and visually STUNNING!!!

I'd recommend people to watch some interviews and TED talks about Prometheus before going to the cinema. I didn't, and I felt like there was some core information that I lacked, hence the confusing part. After watching those TED talks, alot of my questions have been answered. So be sure to at least watch a few before going. :)

I'm over the moon with all the various pretties!!! Riley Scott has a way of filming, that really just show off the designs. Plus, some gorgeous Fassbender screentime hurts no one!

I didn't except much from the movie, since the plot summary sounds cheesy lol The plot got holes, it lacks 'weight' but the directing and the acting gave it a surprising depth. The acting was excellent! You really get drawn in by Fassbender as the Android David, you could clearly see the lack of humanity, yet at the same time it's so human like. And Noomi Rapace as Elizabeth Shaw was captivating. She was 'delicate' in the way a civilian is in a 'war zone' but you could see how she grows stronger as her situation becomes more desperate. Charlize Theron was good too.

One thing I'm unhappy with, is the movie raised alot of questions without answers. There's a talk about a sequel, and I hope some of the answers will be found when the Bluray is out or in the sequel. I managed to keep in mind it's a prequel to the original 1979 Alien movie. So, it was interesting to see the origins of the classic Giger aliens, and where/how they came to be. :) Also, don't expect it to be a horror movie. I know it's tagged as such (at least in the IMBd). But it lacked that distinct atmosphere for a scary horror film. It's certainly dark and incl. some perhaps shocking moments, but I wasn't scared. XD

I wouldn't mind watching it again in the cinema. I think it's the kind of film that gets better after a few viewings. The movie can be somewhat overwhelming the first time. It's like Riley Scott wants to bomb us with all the visuals so we can forget all the holes in the plot LOL

It got excellent acting, GORGEOUS scenes, STUNNING designs but the plot got HOLES. Perhaps it's meant to be seen as mysterious? But it just left me confused. XD It's flawed, but it's a good movie and in the end, this movie got me thinking, and as I wouldn't mind going to the cinema to watch it again.. I'll consider it a success. :D

I'll give it 8/10...just because it's such an eyecandy. Yeah, I'm biased. XD
