I'm not much of a picspam person, but here's one for merlin_land.
I'm quite fond of facial expressions and body language and I finally watched the first episode of the new season, so here are some choice Merlin expressions. Unfortunately, the viewing bar or whatever it's called got stuck at the bottom of a couple of the caps.
I tried to capture the key elements of this cute response, but his expressions were too darn fast for my pause button.
Determined!Merlin.
It's a moment like this that makes me wish I took linguistics. I'm loving the 'y', 'l', 'en, and 'm'. It's fascinating the contortion acts we twist our mouth and its contents into in order to produce speech.
Watch the muscles clench and the little sneer as Merlin makes an unhappy realization.
Now watch the reverse as Merlin's unclench into the crescendo and decresendo of this smile. The first three are purely there for ambiance. :)

I saw that and decided I needed to play with filters. T'is all and nothing more.
Perhaps I've been watching too much of Supernatural, because I half-expected that to happen when Merlin's iris started turning black.
