umm....ok.

So they think people in many other countries give a damn about our superbowl?

It's a sporting event.

And no other countries play football (well unless it's the kind we call soccer).

Terrorists want to target our economy, not our recreation.

The only security risk the superbowl has is drunken and/or angry fans.

Except that, just like the Twin Towers, the superbowl is a symbol of our culture. Capitalist economies can't be targetted for attacks because the economy doesn't have a spatial location or center. The stock market went down when the towers fell because of investor confidence, not because some vital part of our economic infrastructure had gone down.

They're probably right to up security. I just found it funny that the superbowl and the state of the union get equal priority.

The basis of thier assumption makes sense. I don't think there is a threat of terrorism, but if there was the risk level their putting it at makes sense. Just think of the HUGE number of people involved who will be there.

I don't really know if there will be that many extra people. I mean, compare it to the State of the Union: security isn't so much thicker or heavier, just more alert and precise.

I mean extra people as in physical bodies, bystanders, civilians. There are a LOT of people at the Superbowl.
