Alternate Universe
Canon Point: towards the end of their session, but before they realized it was a hopeless cause
Background Link: hamsteak
AU Background:
It is mentioned in canon, but not elaborated on, that the trolls ancestors were the players of a previous session, one that scratched into the current trolls session. Their session scratch allowed the trolls universe to be remade, to be better prepared for the challenges the game would face them with.
So, one can assume pre-scratch Alternia was much different.
It was a much gentler place, much like what we know of Earth, but with a more trollian flair somewhat like what we see in the post-scratch Alternia. I'm going to go through this section by section, if not just for my own benefit, haha.
Society:
Trolls are born from the Mother Grub. At their young age, they are much more susceptible to ailments, weather, etc. They struggle to find food, survive, and grow until they can cocoon themselves high up on the cavern walls until they successfully pupate into young trolls. It is then they are taken away by a lusus, which varies by blood color. Certain lusus only attract to certain blood colors, etc. Young trolls are given housing depending on blood color, with the housing becoming generally nicer as you go up the hemospectrum. There is no 'culling' and whatnot in this society, but lower blood colors are generally discriminated against, even if it is not set in law. If you are lower than a green blood, your housing unit tends to be less well kept, due to less upkeep and provisions from older trolls of your blood; and while you're free to pursue whatever career you wish, there tends to be discrimination by the higher bloods against hiring the lowbloods, due to their shorter lifespan. Those green and above are generally free to join whatever sort of career they wish-- everyone, however, is free to pursue a military career without any issues. They sleep in recupracoons that do not, in fact, contain sopor slime, because there is not a problem in their society with being plagued with nightmares and rage issues.
Technology is a little more high tech that that on earth, due to being older as a race and more advanced. They are also very involved with contact with other planets, and the exchange of ideas, technology, and resources. They are generally neutral in most issues and well liked as a planet.
Their justice system is a lot more like that of Earths-- equal fair trials, representation, etc. Depending on the crime is the severity of your punishment-- jail time, community service, etc.
Quadrants still exist. However, <3 is more alike to the human concept of love, and <3< is more like a rivalry and isnt dangerous towards your life. <> Is a close friendship, one that balances out the two parties, much like a foil to each others character. c3< Is pretty much an unneccessary quadrant, but occasionally is needed to keep the more rougher of <3< from progressing too far. Filling your quadrants is not required, and you're able to come forward willingly at a certain point each year to provide genetic material in order to fill pails.
SGRUB:
Mindfang takes her place in the session as the Thief of Light in the Land of Seas and Plunder.
Her denizen is Poseidon, and he lives in a deep underground cavern beneath the sea, and is only accessible during low tide, which won't come around until she completes all of the required quests in her land. Her quest bed is located on a crashed ship marooned on a rocky area right in the middle of the most rocky waters of her land. The ship is also filled with treasure, a plethora of boonbucks and interesting possible alchemization codes. Her consorts are sharks, and her land is otherwise barren of sealife and landlife. The rough seas and the vicious sharks have scared all of the other animals away, and one of the main objectives of her questing is to calm the seas, send the sharks back to the depths of Poseidons layer, and help the native parrots and smaller sealife return to their homes. Mindfang is, in the end, one of the few players to legitimately complete all of her quests and reach her denizen, and defeat him.
She is a Prospit dreamer, and is one of the first few awake besides their Space player, Dolorosa.
The titles the beta trolls have are the same as their alpha descendants, but their lands are different depending on their personalities and the like.
In the end, the beta trolls will fail to complete the necessary required events to complete their session, and Doc Scratch will contact them from outside their universe and instruct them on how to scratch their session, which they do in order to create the alpha trolls and their advanced universe.
Personality:
Mindfang absolutely loves adventure. In fact, her trollian handle happens to be adventuresGale, like a wind of adventure sweeping her sails across the eight seas.
She's constantly parading around outside her hive pretending to be a gamblignant of the olden times, back when Alternia had a bit rougher edge to it. Sadly, this is not the case anymore, so she's stuck pretending she has rough and tough adventures when in reality its all safe and secure. 8luh.
Never in a million years could she imagine really being able to become a gamblignant, but oh how she wishes she could go sail the seas with a band of rough and tumble young sailors to pillage and plunder any who crossed their paths-- but that was far too dangerous, and Alternia far too peaceful. No troll in their right mind would engage in such an action that would potentially bring harm to others, unless they were quite right up and silly.
A girl can dream, though.
She absolutely loves to FLARP with her friends, and has created her own persona to go along with it. She is the Marquise Spinneret Mindfang, captain of the largest pirate ship on the ocean. You love this persona so much, ever since a young age you've demanded people call you Marquise, because Spinneret is 'soooooooo dum8!!!!!!!!'-- nevermind the fact that it's a title. You know that, dum8y, 8ut it sounds so much cooler!!!!!!! She really wishes there was a more extreme nature to the game, though, because it's way too easy to win and get aaaaaaaall of the levels; or maybe she's just extremely lucky. Who knows. (she is).
But perhaps even greater than her love of pirates is her love of romance-- one she isn't even afraid to hide. Whenever she's not off pretending to plunder all the surrounding respiteblocks, she's at home watching romantic movies, reading romantic novels, and absolutely swooning. There is nothing on Alternia that could please you more than a hot steamy romance-- which she hasn't yet even experienced. Drat.
She is an absolutely shameless flirt, and isn't afraid to admit it. She's only really interested in red romance, but has previously dabbled in the more blacker quadrants-- it was inevitable, really, what with the whole pirating and all. Though to this day, she's not really quite sure if she had a spades rivalry with Redglare, or if it was their FLARP personas that did.... Either way, she rather enjoyed it. Their times FLARPing together added a simulated degree of danger to her escapades, the thrill of fleeing authority and taunting as you went.
She also has a tendency to be very silly sometimes.
She's very sassy and sometimes rather overdramatic, especially in her typing, which can sometimes be interpreted as pretentious by her friends. Mindfang also has a bit of a love for sarcasm, but in the end, she's rather sincere about how she cares for her friends. Her pirate captain flarp character is a bit of a bitch, so it also sometimes seeps into her regular speech even though she isn't like that herself.
Abilities:
As a troll, she is naturally tougher, stronger, and faster than the average human.
With her vision eight-fold, she is able to use some sort of x-ray vision. Her superior vision also allows her to use mind manipulation powers, able to control anyone of a weak mind, pretty much on par with Vriska if not slightly better due to her age. She, however, does not tend to use it on others, and doesn't find much use of it at all until they enter SGRUB. Her weapon of choice is the Fluorite Octet in company with her dicekind strife specibus, which she alchemized using her set of FLARPing dice and a book of fairy tales taken from Summoner, who she was the server player for. She had an additional strife specibus because of her pirating, which is, of course, swordkind. She has a tendency to use this more often at first because of the familiarity, until she realizes just how much stronger her dice really are, especially in tandem with her luck ganking abilities as the Thief of Light.

Sample Entry:

The ship lay adrift in the Alternian waters, finding itself going wherever the wind would take her. The crew had settled in for the night, tired from a days hard work of plundering and pillaging-- all except one. Boots creaked over the floorboards of the starboard bow, hands lazily guiding the helm through the water.
Marquise Spinneret Mindfang was perhaps the most skilled Gamblignant to ever sail these seas, and she knew it.
Her grace was only matched by her beauty, her beauty only matched by her skill. Fleets fell before her, treasure weighed her hull to almost unmovable status. She had everything she could want and more-- yet, she could not find herself particularly happy. Mindfang couldn't help but be a romance seeker, desperate for a lasting red she had yet to find, yet destined to have. For the one she was to find solace in was the one she knew was to kill her-- The Summoner. The end of her legacy, her final stand in this desolate planet, would be against he who she was to love.
A wry smile crossed her lips as she tipped her hat over her eyes.
She had never much been one for fate, really. If her destiny dictated her to fall in love then fall by his hand, then it had another thing coming. Marquise Spinneret Mindfang never did what she was told-- she merely did.
And that's how it was going to stay.

Spinneret finished off the sentence with a firm click of the save button, face wide in a smile. Ah yeah, another fanfiction successfully finished. She sighed happily, eye lids fluttering as she reread over her writing. If only she could makes her fanfictions a reality, if only she could acquire a ship and a crew and go searching for the buried treasures of the olden gamblignant days... But no. That was far too dangerous. Not to mention, there were hardly any trolls out there with the same sense of adventure as she, and it was quite hard to steer a whole ship on your lonesome.
Alas.
She could dream.
