Corel was planning to leave the area with Ananda, Aelan and Calypso, and went to inform Simon. The Boggan complained about being left behind, and was worried he might be attacked again. Though Corel tried to convince him it would be better to remain with Olin, Simon was insistent, and Corel couldn't convince himself to say no. So, the 5 of them loaded into the rental car, and set off for Denver, CO. They managed to get to Las Vegas that day, where they spent the night.

They awoke around 8AM, and were on the road again to Denver by 9AM. The drive passed largely uneventfully, and they reached Denver by 8PM that night. They went over to the Court of Denver, where they once again met Countess Beatrice, who agreed to allow them to stay in the Court. They spent the rest of the night relatively lazily, and then went to sleep

Corel met Calypso down at breakfast the next morning, and asked where they would need to be going that day. She explained there was an entrance to the Sluagh warrens in Denver up in the mountains nearby, so Corel suggested they head up there after he had eaten some breakfast. As he did, Aelan and Ananda came down, and both indicated a desire to travel with Corel, which he agreed to.

They drove up to a trailhead, which Calypso indicated was the way to the archives. They parked the car and the four of them trekked up the path. They eventually came upon an abandoned mineshaft with a bench outside, which Calypso indicated would lead them to the archives. She also said, however, that the Sluagh would likely allow, at best, only one non-Sluagh down in the archives. So, with Ananda and Aelan waiting outside, Corel and Calypso went down the mine.

Eventually, they came across a Sluagh watcher, who greeted Calypso. He told her she was welcome, but then implied Corel couldn't come further. Calypso explained that Corel had sworn to protect her, which surprised the other Sluagh quite a bit. As it was apparent Corel wasn't about to take "no" for an answer, he agreed to let him pass.

They continued further down into a small library, where Calypso started gathering papers. Corel waited around as she did then, when, suddenly, a large snake ensnared her. As she attempted to squirm out, Corel Dictum-ed it and ordered it to release her. It did so, slinking back. Corel asked Calypso if she knew who it belonged to. She claimed it was very likely not anyone who lived there, and also noticed it had had a cantrip on it to help prevent it from being Dictum-ed. Corel moved over and eliminate it, while Calypso continued collecting her papers. After she had finished, they went to what she called the reliquary, where Calypso collected a few items, then said she was done here.

On the way back out, she explained that there was one other thing they needed: a woman, an author, who lived near a lake on the other side of the mountains. Corel wondered what she knew, and it was explained to him that she had a ghost with her who apparently knew something about the massacre. Corel was confused: his limited knowledge of ghosts told him that they were always connected to objects; why then did they need this woman, instead of some object she owned. Calypso explained that this ghost was apparently a unique case, and was connected to the woman. The Sluagh had apparently been studying this for quite some time. What she wasn't sure of, though, was how to get the woman to come to New York when they needed her.

When they got out, Corel explained the basics of the problem to Ananda, who he figured would be able to come up with some sort of lie. As they drove towards her place, Ananda proposed they pretend to be from a publishing company holding a conference in New York. This seemed like a good plan, but they were woeful underdressed, so they returned to Denver to get changed. Of course, Corel hadn't expected to need good clothing, so he hadn't brought any, and thus had to borrow some from a local Fiona. They had to leave Aelan behind, as well, as they couldn't explain the presence of a 9 year old (they figured they could explain Calypso as an intern they had, as it was the summer).

The three of them thus drove up to her house, and Ananda begin trying to talk to Ruth Quinn, the author, about the conference. Things seemed to be going well for them, and she was willing to come, it seemed, when she suddenly glanced off, and then said she couldn't. Corel immediately knew she was lying, and took over himself, pressing her to come. She explained she wouldn't; she had to write and work better at home. Corel still knew she was somewhat lying and, in characteristic bluntness, asked "Why are you lying to us?". She was a little shocked, then explained that her guardian didn't think she should come with them, and that there was no conference.

Corel eventually explained that, yes, they didn't really have a conference, and that they needed her guardian as a witness to a crime. There was a little back and forth, until, finally, a voice exclaimed that she was tired of this, and Rose Glastonbury came up, manifested, through the floor. She asked why she should trust a Sidhe, and Corel was surprised that she knew about them. Calypso explained that, apparently, Rose had died because of an Ailil. When Ruth, a little pale, had left, Corel explained that he was seeking to bring the perpetrators of the Night of Iron Knives to justice. Rose seemed unconvinced, so Corel told her the history, as best he knew it, of the Red Branch, to try to convince her he was genuine. Although she seemed hesitant, she did eventually agree to help, and told Corel to call Ruth when they needed her in New York. Corel proceeded to get Ruth's number, then went back to Denver. He spent the night playing with Simon and watching fireworks. After Simon went to bed, Corel examined the evidence they had.

Tuesday, July 5th - Thursday, July 7th
Corel and the others drove back to Carmel. Corel spent some time discussing the evidence with Calypso, and came to the conclusion that, while not perfect, it did establish the guilt of the conspirators well enough for a Fae court. Otherwise, the drive back was uneventful.

On Thursday, after returning to Carmel, Corel spent the day with Rosalyn, discussing what he had been up to.

Friday, July 8th
The five of them first flew to New York, to hand the evidence over to the Red Branch. On the way, Ananda mentioned a housemate she had spent some time with on the Thursday in Carmel. After a moment, it became clear she was referring to Septimus. Corel disparaged the Ailil a bit, although Ananda explained all the bad things about Corel Septimus had told her.

In New York, Corel went to see Duke Tiaron. He turned over the evidence to him, and suggested he get an independent Sluagh investigation done on the ghosts who were also witnesses (beyond Rose). The five then returned to DC, to the Court of Mirrors, where 10 Red Branch Knights had already started bunking to be ready for the attack in a week.
