It's just occurred that I sat down to write that last entry with a particular topic in mind, only to digress outrageously and forget all about it.

This month is, as hawkida told you some time ago, is NaNoWriMo ((inter)National Novel Writing Month). Somewhat foolishly, I've decided to give this a go too and, somewhat predictibly, I'm already behind ( Read more... )

I thought about doing that too, however my current programming prohjects keep me from being able to put forth the effort to write 1000 words a day (even more since I haven't written anything in the first three days).

I even have a story and everything - had a few in my head for years, thought about penning my story about a metahuman internment camp - kinda like an X-Men meets Oz.

30 days. There's an American schoolchild's rhyme that goes: "30 days hath September, April, June, and November." That's the only way I can ever remember it.

Sounds like a kooky story =) Give it a try sometime.

We have the rhyme over here too, but I can never remember that either...

I really want to have the patience and ability to write creatively, in length. I've always hated creative writing of any kind (well; I've done odd amounts of copywriting which is creative, ish) and avoid it at all costs.

But I would like to write some kind of story which doesn't end up being all cliched and very lame, in an attempt to fill gaps when I run out of inspiration.

Go for it, and then post it online for us to view and appraise :)

Oh, I'm under no illusions that this story won't be all cliched and very lame =) To be honest, I don't even see myself finishing it; I have a poor history for completing projects like this, and the 50k words/December deadline is particularly savage.

Thankfully, the aim of NaNoWriMo is quantity over quality. I'm mainly doing this to try and break myself out of over-planning these things and get back to writing off the cuff.

I might post it online... depends how embarassing it is =)

I'm posting mine online mainly just to keep it portable. I'm just not telling anybody where! (Though some might be able to work it out if they look at previous posts on LJ regarding NaNoWriMo from me.)
