It depends on if it's attention on my terms or not.

If I have control over having attention lavished upon me, be it through words, text, actions, clothing (and yes... *cough*pics*cough* ¬.¬) then that's fine.

It was a bush hat for me at school, rather than a jesters hat, but I was trying (and succeeding) in standing out from the crowd. Similarly, my 'crusty' wear in the early 90s (think OTT hippy... tie-dye tees, tye-dye dungarees, patchwork trews and waistcoats, paraboots or clogs... really must find those pics!!) was an attempt to be visually different. okay, but I hung about with similar people, so actually blended in more than stood out... but compared to the 'norm', yes... look at me! Me! MEEEE! XD In that sense I'm amazed it took me so long to actually cosplay.

If on the other hand it's unwanted attention thrust upon me.. I'm pretty uncomfortable when the spotlight falls on an unprepared me... I get shy, tongue-tied and embarrassed *sigh*
