What a wonderful gift.. to be humbled by a child. To allow a child to reteach us what is important and how simple things can effect us all.

Maggie-ism is a wonderful thing.. I have a feeling she learned it from her mother and father..

We often forget that children are just little adults, wise, but not as knowledgeable. It's so cliche, but we have so much to learn from them.

BUt they have to learn from us too, and I think the key to being a good parent isknowing which is which.

Ah, chess. I'm terrible at it. On the other hand, I'd be happy to kick your ass at backgammon any day of the week. I have trouble finding people willing to play.

I will never criticize my boyfriend's wife for her inability to keep their house clean; she has a two year old who undoes as she does - and whom she would prefer to spend time with instead of worrying about whether or not the dishes are done. That's how it should be, in my humble opinion. I wish I could help her, sometimes, by either taking the baby off her hands for a few hours or by helping her clean; the first is beyond my emotional abilities and the second not allowed by her sense of pride.

Sometimes when it looks like we have so far to go, we need only look at where we've been, and see how far we have come.

The gods must treasure your parental abilities, to give you guys such a wise and wonderful gift.
