Kick the third

Despite almost getting killed recently, Gamlin seems fine and he's already at the simulator. Surprisingly enough, the unit he's training with is not a transforming fighter, but a good old Gespenst Mk II M. He's not faring too badly with it, taking down a lot of Lions and other assorted mooks before they finally overwhelm him. But that's nowhere ( Read more... )

*A chance mook that was lucky enough to dodge Gamlin's first attack is suddenly bisected from head to toe as a white and blue blur shoots down from above.*

Heh. About time we dust off these design plans Anew left us, X!

*It's Teppei and the new haro!X inside Exia. or at least... something that looks like Exia*

I see you're using something different too, Gamlin!

"Thank you for the support."

With that out of the way, Gamlin can focus on another incoming enemy wave - a swarm of Jovian Grasshoppers. He fires a Split Missile at them, because old habits die hard.

"Last mission, I lost my VF and I was forced to use an enemy unit. In case such a situation repeats itself, I want to be prepared."

Nothing wrong with that!

*Exia flanks the Grasshoppers, cutting into them with the GN Blade*

As for me, I'm just trying to get a handle on using Exia's Avalanche equipment.

There are no nearby enemies since Teppei evened out the playing field. So Gamlin has a chance to reload his assault rifle and scan the area.

"Is this a new upgrade? I have not seen it in action yet. Could it be that the equipment is only theoretical at the moment?"

Branching out, Gamlin?

[She's pretending Max didn't tell her about how you slammed a top-of-the-line fighter into an enemy like a rookie.]

"Yes, ma'am. I need to prepare myself in case I am ever forced to pilot an unfamiliar unit again."

I have to admit, I'm not sure how well I'd do being stuck in one form again. I've flown a Valkyrie longer than I flew a Queadluun, now...

[Milia's VF-1 appears in the sim]

I think there may still be a few things your old instructor can teach you, though.

Gamlin's Gespenst grabs a Boosted Rifle. Because he totally was carrying one on its back, for the whole time.

"It would be a honor, Mayor."

*A black and red-painted Gespenst II M arrives onto the battlefield, coolly shooting down lions with a pair of megabeam rifles.*

It's all well and good to have a strong machine, but there's just someting more satisfying about an even playing field, don't you agree?

"I do not mind facing overwhelming odds!"

"Well, as far as training is concerned, at least."

Indeed, a skilled ace should be able to handle any number of unskilled enemies.

"Regrettably, I cannot say I am at such a level of skill yet. But this will not stop me from trying."
Gamlin interrupts the talk because an AI ganmen decided to take a shot at him. Unfortunately for the mook, it was in close quarters - so it got impaled on a Jet Magnum spike. And then exploded.
"Also, familiarity with your machine is an important factor. I will not be caught unaware again."
