you know, I talked to Hirose-sensei for more than an hour today and he turns out to be a kindof cool guy. He might be a killjoy in front of groups, but one-on-one he's very interesting and actually wants to hear from students. He doesn't have it in for the history teacher, he just has heard lots of bad reports and wants to help her out.
By the way, I can't find urasei in the dictionary. You didn't mean urusai by any chance, did you?

So, this killjoy guy...he sounds kindof like Ochiai Sensei. I'm not sure how your exams are in Japan, but after stating this ignorance I will tell you about our Japanese exam. It will be four hours long. It starts at noon with this extra-credit/mandatory listening comprehension then we walk to Croft to finish the rest of the exam which will include, oral, structure, loan/kanji, and then I think we get to go home.

I hope your exams are not quite as intense.

Dasee! Man, am I ever glad I don't have to deal with that. I think our exams might be bad, because the grammar stuff we've been doing is rather confusing, but not quite so long and drawn out. David and I did find out yesterday, though, that we have a paper due on Monday that is supposed to be 20-30 pages long. With interviews. And graphs and charts. And it's 20 PAGES LONG. I'll be surprised if the seiji teacher lasts past next class period.

No, Hirose-sensei's not bad one-to-one. We talked about music for quite a while one day--he'd wanted to be a rock singer and that's why he'd originally gone to America. But his attitude in front of groups and the fact that it's his job to keep everybody in line (which I realize) makes everyone nervous around him. And I felt really bad for Sakakibara-sensei. I refused to do anything that might make her look worse, what with all the trouble she has anyway ( ... )
