old version?

I've been very interested in the old Gamma World RPG, and the new one seems cool. But I'm wondering, if anyone would be kind enough to answer, how they're related? Are they based on each other...are the games very different, or very similar? Or they written by the same people, or company? Thanks :)

Different folks, different companies. You can think fo the d20 version as a remake, or like Marvel Comics' Ultimate line, if you've seen that - many things the same, some different a little, some different a whole lot. We brought the bat-science up to date :), folding in nanotech and this and that, and trying to provide a nice solid foundation on which to spin the lunacy. A whole lot of stuff from the old game is still there, though.

One thing to note: the new edition's gray paper misleads folks, sometimes. It's not a dour dull sort of world. It's got packs of bored advertising robots who will hunt you down and show you ads, and like that. But it looks more "realistic" or whatever - in retrospect, more grim and gritty than it is. Check out actual text bfore making up your mind.
