Allergen immunotherapy

Has anyone undertaken a course of immunotherapy for allergies? I'm talking about the course of treatment where you receive a monthly subcutaneous shot. If so was it at all beneficial for you? any side effects? cost?

I did it years ago for dust. it worked a treat. No side effects that i'm aware of but i didn't really complete the course. Pros. I did notice the improvement pretty quickly. I did it at my doctor so after the initial cost at the allergy specialist it was medicare billed.
Cons. I would wait to see the doctor for ages, once i had the shot, i had to then wait half and hour after in case i had a serious reaction. The wasted time was the reason i stopped.
That being said. I'm planning on hitting the allergy specialist again soon so i can do it all again.

I found this to be very effective.

Side effects for me included local reactions - which is expected. The injections sites get hot and itchy for about a day.

The main draw back as addressed above is the rather large time commitment.

Cool. How long have you been doing it for? Or did you discontinue
