Christ. If I had that much disposable income, I could pay off half of my student debt. I could buy a car and pay for insurance. I could help pay for retirement. I could go globetrotting. So many things that that sort of cash would enable, and it gets spend on a fucking console.

...If I ever get that materialistic, shoot me.

Done.

Top asking price on eBay right now is 25K. They were talking about this in my Japanese class today.

Okay, those prices are just ridiculous. Will ANYone pay that much?! Seriously? If you really wanted it, you should have been in line to get one for $600 - not quadruple that price!! Hell, you could have paid someone, like $100 bucks to pick one up FOR you and you would still only be paying a fraction of the cost those ebay vultures are hoping to score!

Shouldn't stuff like this be illegal? It's like ticket scalping. It's just ripping people off.

I wonder though... Most of those eBay auctions are either "Buy it Now" or have no bids... I bet many of those systems will not get sold at those kinds of prices. Everyone is probably just waaay over-enthusiastic right now. I bet the asking price will drop considerably in the next few weeks.

The one exception- http://cgi.ebay.com/SONY-PLAYSTATION-3-CONSOLE-60GB-PS3-PREMIUM-FREE-S-H_W0QQitemZ270056321808QQihZ017QQcategoryZ62054QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

At least most of the mad profit will go to charity, which is the only reason anyone should ever buy something like this for that much money. It still has a profit of about $10k though, more if someone is absoulutley insane and does Buy It Now.

$45,000 is like someone's yearly income. $500,000? That's a house...at least. Most people only need half that much to completely buy a house up front.
