I guess it helps to consider what kind of person you're going to be saying sorry to. [if it's anyone like him, for instance? a simple sorry would suffice.]

Have you talked to her about it personally? If she still holds a temper, you might want to let her be for a while... to let her thoughts sink in and have her calm down.

You can try sending her a text message... Let her know that you really want to apologize. Sometimes, it's better to set it than to ambush someone just to apologize.
