I try to stick with things, because I don't think I've gotten the full experience until I've taken in everything the creator wanted to show me.

But surely the author wanted you to enjoy it? If you're not enjoying it, are you really getting the full experience?

Yes, but some things are designed to start slowly and pay off in the end (and unfortunately, some don't, lol!)

It all depends how much time and patience you've got, I suppose... For me, my mindset is: "I've started so I might as well finish"... Sunk cost fallacy, maybe, but if I don't finish, then I'll never know for sure.

Call it Fear Of Missing Out. :-)

I'm unfortunately not a quitter so I've spent way too much time finishing books I didn't enjoy.

In the past, I would struggle through a book despite the fact that it was thoroughly dreadful. But reading is supposed to be fun, not a punishment! My TBR list is too huge to waste precious time reading books that I'm not enjoying.

Honestly, it depends. If I can barely get through the first page, that's an instant not reading this book. If I hate the book by 25% in and there's nothing that's drawing me in to keep reading (yes, I've finished books I didn't like because there was something about it that kept me reading lol), then I DNF. If you see me DNFing a book at the halfway point, then you know I think it's terrible because if I decide I don't like a book at the halfway point, I'm determined to finish it because I've already made it so far 🤣

I don't think I've ever had a book where I couldn't even get through the first page. 25% is probably as much as I'd read if there wasn't anything in it making me want to keep reading. I've had some books where I've got to halfway and despite the fact that it wasn't a good book, I ended up finishing the thing just because I'd already read so much of it! There's so many good books around at the moment to waste time on rubbish though!
