About those soul-eating insecurities...I've been thinking lately they come from women being so chiefly objects of visual pleasure for men, and men still having the most power (if not a central means of keeping that power). Men don't think their faces are incomplete without make-up, for instance. And it real seals some devil's deal when women accept that image of their being.
