i was listening to this dude on the radio this morning and he said if she'd been tried in australia she would have been convicted too, because once they prove you were in possession of narcotics it's your responsibility to prove why they're not yours, or what the mitigating circumstances were. and that's in both the australian and the indo legal systems. apparently. and its funny tho that we think everywhere has a similar legal system to ours, when really, because we follow the british model, we're really in the minority. the indo system is based on the dutch system, which is like all the other euro systems, and that's the most common type of legal system. anyway i think there was a point in there somewhere.
I really believe that Australia should interrupt. What kind of a rational legal system lets the bali bombers who killed hundreds of people live, but someone with drugs die. I think it is irrational and stupid. The punishment does not fit the crime. I think a legal system that is so irrational and prejudiced needs to be modernized so that people have FAIR trials and they dont already have their sentence determined before they step into the court room.
