Actually, I have hit a little snafu for the moment. Transferring data was a snap and super quick, but getting the wireless working has been a little tricky. So, I can connect to the cable box but I can't get an IP address. I get a 168.what-have-you. Blye mentioned that my cable box might be/not be filtering mac-address, but no one has the user ID and password to log into the box. It seems I might have to do a hard reset to the box and just set up the whole thing again, this time remembering the password and user ID, but if you have any other suggestions that would be much less work and not involve resetting the whole cable box. I would totally be willing to try it.
Ok, first thing, and just somewhat-related question: did you buy it after Friday, so that you got Leopard (the new OS) for free?
If your box is filtering, you won't even be able to get on the wireless and won't get an IP at all. So check and see if the Network preference pane shows that it's actually "connected" to your network. If not, filtering might be on, but if you didn't set it up, it's unlikely.
Have you used other computers on wireless yet? Or only wired? Wireless might not be turned on.
If you can connect to the wireless, but not get an IP, and you haven't setup the router to not have DHCP, then it sounds like a problem. If you don't have a bunch of other stuff on it, I would just do a hard reset of the router.
I didn't get Leopard for free but I got it for $9.99 which I think isn't too bad, but its on backorder right now. It does say connected but with limited or no connectivity. I will have to look at that again when I get home later. There are other computers on the wireless (3 laptops) so I know thats working properly. I think I am going to have to just do the hard reset on the router. Hopefully there wont be too much work involved with keeping those other computers running.
