How about the front desk clerk at the UN Plaza Hotel? She was cute and unimportant enough.

Callahan's little doomed one-sided romance with Lupe (and I love so much that King gave it the respect of tagging Lupe with the last name of ROLAND'S doomed romance; it confirms that it's a serious and legitimate thing, to my mind); and Roland/Irene, but only within canonical bounds--it is what it is, and what it is is perfect. I wouldn't want them to wind up back together.
