Sadly, that's how anime/manga is.

Forget Naruto, look at Bleach. At least in that series, the female characters are strong and can fight their own battles.

Funny thing is, Claymore is a shounen title, yet the entire main cast is all female and that is awesome. XD;

Well the problem with Claymore is that it only gets released once a month and it's hard to keep excited.

Haven't watched Bleach but heard that Kubo apparently is suffering from some sort of writers' block.
