Yeah. And it was even a well-done film and all, but the shocking repugnance of the issue pretty much distracted from everything else and made me kind of nauseous. It's one girl vs. the world, and you basically have to just watch her keep trying to escape and failing every time until the ending--which is, well, even more shocking.

Similar results also include North Korean women being sold as wives. It's really disgusting.

Recently there was some talk (which was denied) about there being discussions on revising the policy, but that's been nixed (no surprise there).

Yeah, I read those articles too. It's time for the policy to go, but I think it's a case of 骑虎难下.

I happen to know someone with the same fate. It's really pathetic that such things still happen in rural China. But one-child policy has been modified. I remember if both husband and wife are the single child of their own family, they can have more than one child.
