This just in: Pfork gives Morrissey an 8.0. This can mean one of two following things:
1) The album is rather brilliant after all and, in a rare burst of good taste, Pitchfork has recognized Ringleader of the Tormentors as the masterpiece it surely is, or

The thing I keep hearing from my Mozzer friends is that the new album's "a grower". Not a glowing endorsement, but not a disaster either. I'll be happy if it's even within shouting distance of Quarry. Oh, and "You Have Killed Me" is a rad jam.

I have not heard good things about the new Charlatans. Not good things at all. They should've hung 'em up years ago.

Yeah I just got the Charlatans album in the mail yesterday. I'm kind of like why is this in my mailbox? But I'll give it a spin one day soon when I get the strength.

When you're known for having a rabid, utterly devoted fanbase, they shouldn't be saying your new album's "a grower". Just sayin'.

An addendum: People, PLEASE stop using "I Love You But I've Chosen ____" as a catchphrase on everything from blogs to dancefloors.

As a hardcore Morrissey fan, I was pretty disappointed with the album. Perhaps it will grow on me, however the first 4 or so listens weren't making me want to buy the album.

I've purposely only listened to the single, and I actually kind of like it after a few listens. We'll see how I feel when my album gets here, like 90 million years from now.
