Actually, by default you don't set up a root account with Ubuntu distros. The system they use grows on you, when you want to run something as root, you use the sudo command and put in your user password. If you want to set up a root account, run:

sudo passwd root

And enter it there. From then on you can log in as root when you want to. I don't even bother setting this up anymore, I have switched to their way (although I use the traditional way in SuSE)

Have you checked out GLX/Compiz yet:

I had already figured out how to setup the SU by the time you posted, but thank you for the info. And thank you for letting me know I didn't make a mistake. For now all I need to do is tweak Konquerer so it can actually support Gmail and Flash and all that Jazz.

sudo apt-get install flashplayer
(after setting up dapper repositories (assumming you are using dapper))

konq should use the HTML gmail interface by default, and I think gmail has smart browser versioning that fools masquerading. You might want to:

sudo apt-get install firefox

I am using Breezy Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger ...
I tried installing Dapper from the DVD iso, but it really didn't like me.
I've also installed firefox. It's working fine at and all which is great, it's just I wanted to get Konq up and running fully functional.
