They don't have individual showers? At my school the bathrooms have a few showers that are divided by thin little walls and each have their own changing rooms (which, for some reason, does not stop people from walking the halls in too-short towels).
Anyway, I think you'll like living in the dorms. And if your roommate is an ass, put up with him the best that you can, and next year request a new one. You can always spend time out of your room, and if worse comes to worse, if you kill him, you can always blame a serial killer. Serial killers love college campuses!

i really don't know about the showers. basically it's a prison without guards... the rooms are cells, although they don't furnish bunk beds. the food is bad, and it really sounds sketchy overall... the weird thing about communal showering is you get to see what everyone else looks like naked, then you run into them in normal life and the images are there in the back of your head. hm... but yes. i think i will call you tomorrow or something!
