Actias Luna, aka Luna Moth, family Saturniidae. I think it is normal for them to only live a few days because I'm pretty sure they lack mouth parts as adults.

Here's the Wikipedia article on the moth. At first I thought it was some exotic flower when I saw your picture. Beautiful, isn't it?
