Any one have any ideas as to what might be wrong with my eggplant? After looking disgustingly healthy the leaves are turning yellow and then brown and I rather suspect it might be dying. It's been really dry here so I've been watering it daily (same as everything else in the garden) ... I'm wondering if I've been underwatering, overwatering, or if ( Read more... )

Are there any critters crawling around or on the plant? Any critter debris like bumps or webs? Check the leaves, stems and fruit, if any.

Since it's not the entire plant that is browning out, I'm thinking you may have some kind of bug attacking it...

No, I can't see any bugs or anything ... I think it might be the fungus the next commenter mentions. Thanks :)

If there are no insects (spider mites and flea beetes in particular like to attack eggplant) it might be a verticillium wilt (a fungus that attacks the vascular system of the plant.)

If it's insects, you can probably save the plant, but verticillium wilt is likely a death knell; you will possibly get a few fruits before the plant succumbs. Don't compost any plants suspected of the problem since it will show up again wherever the compost is used.

Sadly, I think it might be the fungus :( It's got one eggplant on it so hopefully I'll at least get that off it before it dies.
