Totally sweet. The premise makes sense. How does Blair stay sane when he has to switch back and forth between two such different sets of expectations? TA and cop partner. Not many commonalities. BTW, I loved it when Jim was trying to convince himself to give up the job he loved, for Blair. His heart was in the right place, even if he just couldn't do it.

There's something so compelling about how we bridge the gap (or don't) between what we know is right and how we actually act in the world. It was so interesting pushing Jim's buttons to see what he'd do.

The beginning with the cupcakes made me think the story was going to be cute and funny, then you went in a totally different direction-- I love it! Wonderful analysis.

Oh, thank you! The story kind of went dark on me; I love it when a story goes in a very different direction than the one I had planned, and this one did it three times. I'm so glad you liked the end result.

This was fantastic! I really liked the way you dug into both of their motivations and tolerances - how they both are trying to cope with what out of necessity is some version of a co-dependent relationship. Very nice to see how they figured things out in the end too.

Thank you so much! Yeah, the whole "we were destined for each other" thing can get kind of unhealthy, especially with the stresses they keep putting on the relationship in canon, so I like showing Jim and Blair putting in the work to keep things as good as they are. And that whole merry-go-round/roller-coaster comment of Blair's always struck me as odd; I wanted to explore what he meant by it.
