Wow, I grew up reading those...Come to think of it, just before I started first grade, my mother had been teaching me to read. Once I'd developed some comprehension skills, she would read a chapter, or so, out loud..then hand the book to me.The four Borrowers books and Dr Dolittle. After that, "Dick & Jane" was a real hard sell, let me tell ya'
