Paste Tomatoes!

Jul 30, 2007 20:30

My paste tomatos are ripening! I can't believe how much sauce they make.  Very few seeds and skin came out of my sauce maker.
I've got a pizza cooking right now.

Roma:
These are open-pollinated.
I was getting some blossom end rot on them (as romas are prone to do).
I had planted the plants with eggsells in their holes, but I also ground up some eggsells into a powder, mixed it with water, and then watered them.  Haven't had too much of a problem since.

Classica T
This is a hybrid type.  I am absolutely blown away by the vigor and production of these plants.  Every week I have to give them a haircut because I don't have any more room for these bushes!  They are huge!  They haven't had any disease problems either.
There have to be at least 300 tomatos on two plants.
